Women’s Derby Information & FAQ’s
Women’s Derby Registration of $25 gets you:
- FREE Admission to OPENING CEREMONY
- Chance to win PRIZES for the Top TWENTY Largest Fish
- FREE Admission to CLOSING CEREMONY
- Commemorative WOMEN’S DERBY DOG TAG that gets you into events and verifies your women’s derby registration at weigh-in
Additional costs:
Valdez Fish Derbies Silver Salmon Derby Ticket*
Women’s Derby participants MUST purchase a Valdez Fish Derbies Silver Salmon Derby ticket in addition to women’s derby registration.
Cost $10 for a daily ticket valid 8/9 or $50 for a season ticket
* Please comply with all State of Alaska fishing regulations.
Optional Opportunities
WOMEN’S DERBY RAFFLE – Raffle tickets will be sold during events for a chance to win Alaska Airlines tickets. Participants DO NOT need to purchase raffle tickets to be eligible for Women’s Derby Prizes. Winner will be announced at Spawn ‘til Dawn Awards Ceremony.
All Valdez Fish Derbies Silver Salmon Derby Rules Apply, with these exceptions:
- TICKETS - On a private boat, EVERYONE WHO FISHES must have a Valdez Fish derby ticket to be eligible. NOT everyone needs a Women’s Derby Registration Dog Tag, however only women who have pre-registered for Women’s Derby will be eligible for Women’s Derby Prizes. (Since you have to purchase a regular derby ticket in addition to women’s derby registration, you are eligible to win Silver Salmon derby prizes)
- WEIGH-IN - Weigh-In for Women’s Derby closes at 6pm (Regular Derby Weigh-In closes at 9pm)
- STANDINGS – Standings for women’s derby WILL NOT be announced until the Closing Ceremony, Saturday night at Civic Center, 8pm. Weights will be posted on the weigh in station leader board at 8pm.

TOP TWENTY LARGEST FISH – In addition to prizes for the top 3 largest fish, we will be giving away an additional 17 prizes at the Awards party.
- Women’s derby participants are encouraged to weigh in their TOP WEIGHT FISH (only your largest fish will be counted).
- Women are eligible for 1 prize only.
WHAT ABOUT MEN?
While men are not eligible to win Women’s Derby prizes, they are welcome to participate in the Silver Salmon Derby (in fact, on a private boat, IF THE MEN FISH they must have a valid Derby ticket for you to be eligible – see rule above). Men are welcome to attend events, however they will not be eligible to win door prizes. (Women’s Admission is FREE with Registration).
